Here’s this week’s Wednesday Story:
A Busy Day
Today I was a pirate, and then I rode a horse.
A dragon tried to burn me. (I won that fight, of course.)
I climbed a giant mountain. I rode a spaceship far away.
I’ve been reading in my bedroom. It’s been a busy day!

I typically have five or six books on the go at once. I also make the mistake of putting way too many books on hold at the library, only to have them all come in at once.
It can be overwhelming, especially if several of the stories are of the same genre. It’s all part of the fun of reading though. I can read a little on my phone, switch to the tablet, pick up a paperback, and rotate through them all in a single day.
It doesn’t matter what you’re reading, as long as you’re reading!
And someday, like Anita and I, that kid might grow up and decide that he wants to tell stories of his own – give something back, and hopefully fire the imaginations of the next generation of young writers.
It’s wonderful to think of all the worlds you can escape to, just by reading a book. I’ve been a zombie, a vampire and a succubus, and I’ve survived futuristic wars, not to talk about apocalypses of all sorts.
A book lets you take a brief break from your daily life, and be swept away to another place and time. It lets you forget your daily struggles and tasks and swallows you up whole.
You might rejoice or be deeply saddened, when you reach the end, but no matter what, your life will be a little bit richer, a little bit fuller. You’ll often reflect over your own life, no matter what type of book you’re reading, because they all bring a fresh take on problems and how to overcome them. You’ll be inspired to be the best version of yourself, to better, more kind to others and your imagination will grow leaps and bounds.
I <3 books.
Simple as that.
