Here’s this week’s Wednesday Story:

Fireflies - a short story by Patrick S. Stemp and Anita Soelver

In the summer when the sun goes down
The fireflies come out.
Like leaves on the wind, they soar.
They flash! One season, gone.
Wash, out.

Patrick's thoughts

Just having some fun here after seeing fireflies in the back yard. I loved the show. My favorite episode will always be “Out of Gas”.

I know people want Mal and the crew back, but I hope they leave it alone. Something magical happened, if only for an instant. Somehow I don’t think they’d be able to recapture it. The movie was a fitting end. In a world of sequels and reboots, do we really need another one?

Anita's thoughts

I started watching Firefly a few years ago, but never finished it. It was long after the show was dropped, so before an angry mob gathers on my doorstep, it’s not my fault that the show got canceled 😉 I’ll have to see it again some day, to see what all the fuss is about.

For actual fireflies; I’ve only seen them once when visiting friends in Belgium. It was pretty spectacular. Nature has some really funny creatures.
