Here’s this week’s Wednesday Story, which will be part of our first short story collection called “Tiny Burps”:

Foggy Mirror - a short story by Patrick S. Stemp and Anita Soelver

Foggy Mirror

I like to write and draw,
With my finger,
On the mirror in the bathroom.
The next steamy shower
Reveals my art!

Patrick's thoughts

I guess Anita is more mature than me.

I still do this – though not on the bathroom mirror. I limit my art to the car windows in the Winter. I draw pictures for my wife while she sits inside getting warm.

It’s important to have these little moments or games with our families.

We have a Weeping Angel toy in the house…somewhere. We take turns hiding it and wait for the other person to find it – sometimes weeks later. Then she gets hidden again.

Never stop playing.

Anita's thoughts

I did this a lot when I was a kid. Much to my Mother’s irritation, I’m sure. Such a wonderful thing to draw something that would disappear, only to reappear again when you either blowed hot breath on it, or hot steam would hit the surface of the mirror again.

Not sure if it’s just a childhood thing, but it’s a thing I’ve gotten over a long time ago, because now I’m the one who has to polish the mirrors 😉 But I was still fond of finding hidden messages or hearts on mirrors or car windows done by my children. It is a sweet surprise only revealed under the right circumstances.
