Here’s this week’s Wednesday Story:

Squirrels - a short story by Patrick S. Stemp and Anita Soelver

How do squirrels remember
Where they buried all their nuts?
Like tiny pirates, they keep maps
Hidden inside tree trunks.
X marks the spot!

Patrick's thoughts

I love feeding peanuts to the squirrels. I keep a baggie full of them (peanuts, not squirrels) in my jacket pocket.

It’s nice to take a few moments out of a busy day to do something so simple and fun. They may stop to enjoy a quick snack, or scurry around the park looking for the perfect place to bury their prize.

I do wonder how they keep track of them all!

Anita's thoughts

That’s me. Only, I have lists, notes, spreadsheets and saved bookmarks instead of maps.
And half a year later when I need to find something I saved or wrote down, it’s hard to find the right spot. Because I’m all over the place.

Usually comfort myself by thinking it’s okay, because I’m an artist 😉
We’re supposed to be a bit messy, right? RIGHT?
