Here’s this week’s Wednesday Story:

Water Bear - a short story by Patrick S. Stemp and Anita Soelver

Water Bear

Tiny tardigrade, or water bear,
Is the coolest critter ever.
They can live for 30 years
With no food or water.
They can even survive in space!
I think they should all be wearing
Tiny leather jackets, with dark sunglasses
On their funny faces.

Patrick's thoughts

I love these little guys. I feel a little sorry for them though, because the only way to know for sure they can live without food or water for 30 years, or that they can survive the vacuum of space, is to take away their food and water and stick them out the hatch!

But they just smack the jukebox, pop their collars, and the ladies come running.

Anita's thoughts

These creatures will probably be the only living things left on Earth when everything else is gone. I can’t believe they even exist. Kind of amazing, although also kind of creepy. Not sure I did them justice in this drawing. If you aren’t familiar with them already, go look them up. Fascinating little things!
